This miniature hummingbird is actually an imposter – it is a hummingbird moth. Their wings beat so quickly as they hover while extracting nectar. They seem to hide in plain sight so I had to include one in this painting. The hummingbird moth is so small and delicate I really thought I was seeing things. They are one to two inches in body length and can be found in the USA, think Texas, Florida, Maine and even Alaska! Fun fact for your Thanksgiving or Christmas Dinner this year!
