In the spring of 2022 as COVID was starting to wane, I traveled to Wicked Tulips Flower Farm in Exeter, RI. Armed with my camera and trusty telephoto lens, I was able to record the joy of being amid row upon row of tulips that had erupted in a riot of color. I wasn’t the only one in a mask, enjoying being out and about with mother nature. These two young girls were having so much thoughtful fun, choosing their tulips and filling their shared bucket. I came back to these photos searching for how Covid-19 affected different ages and was struck by how resilient the human spirit is – that, despite a pandemic, we can still find untold happiness in the simple of act of picking flowers on that sunny, perfect day.
